Children First staff recently attended a two-day Health Care Institute (HCI) that was hosted by the UCLA Anderson School of Business and the National Center on Early Childhood Health and Wellness.  HCI is designed to assist grantees in improving the health of their staff, families, and children, while strengthening the communities in which they work.  Participation in HCI is a three-year commitment with different health topics being addressed annually.  Children First is one of only 31 Head Start programs across the nation to be selected to participate in this initiative!  It is quite an honor, and we are delighted to be a part of it!

Over the course of the next few years, HCI will focus on the following topics:

  • 2018: Common Childhood Illnesses
  • 2019: Oral Health & Staff wellness
  • 2020: Mental Health / Nutrition & Obesity Prevention

Stay tuned for more updates!
